Jesse Snyder directs the horns in the Hawaiian swing band Kahulanui, and created many of their horn arrangements. Kahulanui was nominated for three 2013 Hoku Awards as well as a 2014 Grammy Award. Jesse can also be found playing with
Richard Russell, a.k.a. Ricardo, has recorded nine albums of mostly original music – you can check them out at ricardo.net. In 2015 he produced the first Red Water Trio CD "The Jazz Angle." He also co-created an original jazz sextet called the Slippersons with Peter Weinstock, and they produced a new album of original jazz in 2016 called "Boundaries" (nominated for a 2017 HOKU Award). Before all that – long ago and far away – Ricardo playaed in a duo with Azure McCall…and even still gives benefit concerts in Seattle, under the guise of Seattle Secret Music. The seventeenth show (!) is coming up in May at the Triple DoorTheater in downtown Seattle.
We all live on Hawaii Island and work in a variety of ensembles to help keep live music cooking. We are grateful for the Red Water to provide us with a warm and tasty place to play, and for all of our friends who have joined us to listen or play and enjoy the wonderful food.
Bassist Brian McCree has been a pillar of the Boston music scene for decades, performing with Bobby Hebb, Alan Dawson, Jackie Byard, Pharoah Sanders and a long list of others. In 2003, he moved to the Big Island of Hawaii, where he's played with the Olliephonic Horns, and the Slippersons, as well as with a variety of other musicians.
